Citizenship- Citizenship is being a member of a state or a nation and also playing an active role in society.Within the state or nation, having an active role means you are taking part and contributing possitivly to te area which you live in. This could either be through the job you do such as being a part of the police or danoting to charity.
Citizen- A person that is a member of a particular country and who has rights because of being born in that country or because of being given rights. It could also be a person who lives in a particular town or city.they are also entitled to protection by the government.
Diversity- the state of having people who are different races, religions and cultures in a group or organization.Leicester is an example of this.People who are differenteither coming from outside of the uk or having relatives who have done so making them a uk citizen born here.
The Public services view citizenship as helpful as any citizens who help revent crime by being a witnesses, reporting a crime they have seen, and actively doing something helps the Policeget justice and convict for crimes taken place. Also, Citizens who help the local community like running youth clubs and getting them involved in productive workshops gets them out of the street and lowers crime in a area.
A good citizen shows courtesy and respect for the rights of others.
Pros-small crimes like neighbours being loud would go down which would stop police time being wasted.
Con-if respect wasnt shown then more police time would be wasted and could prevent them going to a more serious crime.
A good citizen is trust worthy and honest.
Pro- if a crime did happen, the witnesses and people involved would try and help solve what happened.
A good citizen has tolerance.
Pro- less violence crimes/riots would happen
Con-if people didn’t have tolerance then a lot more crime would happen due to anger and disagreement which would mean police would have a lot to deal with and would struggle because of the cut backs.
A good citizen has responsibility
Pro-everyone will take part in society to help and improve it. This would include the services jobs that take a massive part in this. Without them, society wouldn’t run properly
Con-If no one went by this, the services would have a lot more to do and to deal with.
Qualities of a good a ctizen
A good citizen always obeys the law and respects authority.
Pro-the crime rate is less
Con-if they don’t go by this then neighbourhoods would be dangerous and people wouldn’t feel safe
Police cuts would affect the response time so there would not be enough police officers
A good citizen always contributes to society and to the community by performing civic duty.
Pro- makes an area better and a nicer place to be
An example of this would be being in the military if drafted.
Con- If you refuse to be drafted you can be arrested.
A good citizen loves his/her country and shows patriotism
Pro-if they respect their country then the crime rate will be low and everyone will make it a better place.If you love your country you would protect it so this could be protecting it from crime like the police or from war so being part of the army.
Con- If people didnt respect their country extreme situations could happen
You have to be 18 or over
requirements say you have to be sound of mind. For example no serious mental health problems or if youre unstable.
Good characteristic is also a part of this which rules out anyone in prison or with a past of a criminal record
Living in uk is a big part of being a uk citizen,If a person is not british then they have to have met the knowledge of English and life in the uk requiremens which includes being able sospeak english well and a test is taken with various questions about the uk.
